Is your church inventing or following Jesus?
Too often people confuse a strong-willed personality as an effective leader, leadership is not being strong-willed, rather having a strong sense of purpose that is centered upon God. The church of our Lord needs leaders, not petty instigators. There are too many churches that substitute a petty person for a godly person and see no distinction, because the people who put them in power do not know the difference.
Why do we do church? Please a personality? Hear a sound bite? Take in the latest fad? No. We worship Christ as Lord. And what does that look like? Our church submits to Christ as LORD! Then, we will have a radiant church! Is Christ leading us and our church, or are we seeking to lead Him?
Before we can venture into the "how," we need to ask one key and essential question: Who and what do people see in us? When we share about the Lord to someone, what is that person seeing in us? Our character? Our Fruit? Our personality? Our friendliness? Our love? Our care? Or?
Does your home church have traditions that are so honored, the purpose of your church is skewed or people are not being led in the right direction? How about a Christmas pageant with all the planning, personality conflicts, and stress where Jesus is forgotten about...

What makes a church grow? The main, significant factor over all else of why churches succeed is this one point: they were centered upon Christ as LORD! They were not centered on a personality, a vision, a denomination, an emerging paradigm, or a set of trends.
